About Mrs. JohnsonHi!! My name is Melissa Johnson :) I am so excited to share my classroom happenings with everyone on my own little slice of cyberspace!
I am honored to be your child’s teacher. This is my 24th year teaching at South Elementary, which is SO hard to believe! {Time absolutely flies when you're having fun!} I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English from The University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 1993 and my Master’s degree in Teaching-Elementary Education from Simmons College in Boston in 1994. I was born in Fall River, MA. I live in Somerset with my wonderful husband, Matt…he is a Captain on The Fall River Fire Department, our darling daughter, Madeline, who is starting 10th grade and keeps me very busy with all her sports and activities and our Golden Retriever, Charlie, …he is so much fun! We love the beach, biking, walking, eating out, shopping ..... ... time with family and friends! Teaching is so much more than a paycheck to me. It's honestly one of my greatest hobbies. I enjoy creating resources, browsing blogs, pinning ideas, and doing whatever it takes to make my own classroom a happy, inviting, challenging, and rewarding place to be. :) Along with teaching the standards, my goal is to help students develop a sense of responsibility for their own learning, their behavior, and their choices. I have high expectations for each of my students. You are welcome in our class at any time. Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or funny stories to share. Email is probably the easiest and quickest way. E-mail: [email protected] Phone: 781-344-7004
